Program Aide - Marion Shelter

Location – 330 Barks Road West, Marion, OH 43302

Turning Point has been serving domestic violence victims and their families for over 40 years in Crawford, Delaware, Marion, Morrow, Union, and Wyandot counties in North Central Ohio.

Program Aides work in the shelter answering incoming calls, responding to texts, and assisting our clients work towards independence.

The following description defines areas for which an individual has primary responsibility. This list is not intended to limit the scope of the job in any way.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer crisis calls, determine eligibility and arrange admission to shelter, then complete the intake process upon arrival.
  • Respond to resident needs within the shelter, consistently implement house rules and responding to other emergency and non emergency situations.
  • Provide emotional support to victims of domestic violence and their children.
  • Document case activity in database and maintain other necessary records.
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and safety in and around the shelter.
  • Understand/learn and abide by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network’s Promising Practices; Standards for Domestic Violence Programs and Trauma Informed Care Best Practices and Protocols.
  • Other appropriate duties as assigned.

Skills:

  • Must be able to communicate with people of varying social, economic, religious, and racial backgrounds through both written and verbal means.
  • Interact effectively with internal and external resources to assist in finding solutions to barriers for residents.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to interact rationally and with sound judgement in a crisis situation.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and insurance .

Work Schedule:

  • As assigned; availability to work daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays. 8 hour shifts averaging 24 hours per week.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Holidays
  • Night shift
  • Overnight shift
  • Weekends as needed

Transitional Housing Economic Assistant

Location – 500 North Liberty Street, Delaware, OH 43015 (with travel to our Marion location)

Position Title: Transitional Housing Economic Assistant

Supervisor: Melissa Prestien, Housing Director

Salary: Part-time – Starting pay rate is $18.00/hour

Job Duties:

The Transitional Housing Economic Assistant’s chief concern is being a liaison between the Transitional Housing Program and the Finance Director. This position is responsible for Accounts Payable duties for the Transitional Housing Program, such as tracking bills into spreadsheets, generating ACH payments, and maintaining copies for files. They must have an in-depth knowledge of bookkeeping and spreadsheet applications, including Excel and Word. Applicants must be able to apply advanced mathematical practices, knowledge, and techniques to assist in production of reports, and perform spreadsheet calculations.

Minimum Qualifications: Bookkeeping Experience
