Picnic on the Porch for National Domestic Violence Awareness Month
September 23, 2016
It’s that time of the year again! Picnic on the Porch is on Friday, October 7, 2016 from 11:00 – 1:00. Help the staff, board, and volunteers of Turning Point recognize National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The staff will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, and a dessert table where attendees can “vote” for their favorite dessert by giving a monetary donation. It is a fun competition among Turning Point staff! In addition, Turning Point will also have their Clothesline Project on display throughout the month of October. The Clothesline Project is a powerful display of t-shirts decorated by past and present residents of Turning Point. Each color of a shirt represents a different form of violence, such as domestic violence, sexual assault, or being attacked due to their sexual orientation.
Picnic on the Porch is open to anyone and everyone who would like to learn more about Turning Point’s services and the issue of domestic violence. The staff will also be available to give tours of the shelter. We hope to see you there!
